COSMEGEL CLINICAL Safety and Research Evidence Aloe Vera based gels have been used successfully many thousands of times as a post-treatment application. In particular its soothing qualities and ease of application have been found to be suitable for the after-care of patients following injectable procedures such as dermal fillers (for example hyaluronic acid gel injections or collagen injection~) or injectable collagen stimulant treatments such as Sculptra, and also for localized massage following 'Lipo-dissolve' fat dissolving injection therapy. In addition it is widely used after medical 'light-based' treatments, such as laser treatments and intense pulsed light therapies. Dr. Paul Myers MBBS BSc FRCGP has a special interest in the use of Aloe Vera as a topical product, particularly after aesthetic (cosmetic) procedures. In September 2007 the medical journal 'Aesthetic Medicine' published his research article demonstrated the safety profile of Aloe Vera, when used as an after care treatment for a variety of aesthetic (cosmetic) treatments. Properties of Vitamin A and Vitamin E Vitamin A is frequently used in cosmetic and medical applications applied to the skin, and is on accepted way to help prevent the appearance of ageing in the skin. Vitamin A is absorbed through the skin and increases the rate of skin turnover, and gives an increase in collagen and thus may help provide a more youthful appearance. Various published studies have shown that this vitamin, when applied to the skin can diminish the collective signs of photo-damage, (sun-damage), thus improving skin appearance and helping relieve skin discolouration, the appearance of fine wrinkles, and skin roughness. Vitamin E is well known for its anti-oxidant activity, and is vital in protecting skin cells from ultra violet light, pollution, drugs, and other elements that produce cell damaging free radicals. It also has a role in slowing the appearance of skin aging. It con help skin look younger by reducing the appearance or fine lines and wrinkles. Topical Vitamin E also provides a benefit in preventing and treating sunburn; it protects the epidermis layer of the skin from early stages of ultra violet light damage.
